At present, winemakers in China's wine industry can be divided into two categories:One become winemakers from vineyard and cellar setp by setp;The other are trained winemakers.The former are very experienced and have lots of experience.The latter are rich in knowledge,flexible and innovative.They together build China's winemaking team.Jiang Yanjun,chief engineer of Xinjaing Tiansai Vineyards belongs to the former group.He become an experienced winemaker step by step with his own efforts,persistence,and determination.
I have known him for many years.Though we can't have long talk when we meet each other,his personality of frankness and enthusiasmg ave me deep impression.During 30 years,he worked for 3 wineries.
His parents once worked in Shacheng winery (now known as China GreatWall Wine Company).So after graduated from high school at age of 16 in 1979,he also worked in this winery.At that time,the winery developed China's first dry wine.From this winery,Jiang Yanjun started his wine career.
While working in workshop,Jiang Yanjun turned high interest for wine and wine grapes.In late 1970s,there were few wineries in China,but Shacheng winery already had its own vineyards.Not only wine,he was very curious about wine grapes.
Shacheng winery was one of China's key wine production enterprises with strong technical force.There were many industry experts.The winery often undertakes many industry scientific research projects.From here,Jiang Xuejun's wine knowledge and winemaking skills were greatly improved.
With development of Chinese wine industry,many wineries were built in Shacheng region.In 2003,Jiang Yanjun joined in Beijing Red leaf wine company.The winery has 100 hectares of vineyards in Shacheng region,planted many grapes,such as Syrah,Cabernet Sauvignon,Marselan,Merlot,Chardonnay,etc.He worked there for 10 years and spent most of his time in vineyard and cellar.
Jiang Yanjun said,"Though every year's work is the same hard and boring but wines in different vintage is quite different.I was deeply attracted by nature's miracle like this and intoxicated until now!"
Talking about his career,he said,"I love everything about grapes and wines.Each wines are my devotion.I felt a strong sense of accomplishment.After all,I can support my family and make a living by this career.Cultivating grapes and making wines are way of my life."
Jiang Yanjun was born in Shacheng region.He never leave his hometown,parents and family.But in 2013,he accepted the invitation from Xinjiang Tiansai Vineyards for his wine career.In July 2013,he formally joined Tiansai Vineyards winemaking team as chief engineer."Though it's a new winery,but the first vintage wines surprised us.So we are very confident about the future!"
