Wine exports are now valued at NZ$1.37 billion and New Zealand Winegrowers reported ¡°strong demand in key markets¡±.

The harvest is currently underway in New Zealand and the mood is said to be ¡°positive¡± after a ¡°superb summer¡± but it will be smaller than the 2014 vintage but will be supported by retained stocks of ¡®14.

NZ Winegrowers CEO, Philip Gregan, said: ¡°The warm dry summer of 2015 has been absolutely perfect for growing and ripening grapes. As we move into autumn the prospect is for an outstanding, albeit smaller, vintage in all our grape-growing regions.¡±

For anyone wondering what else could be keeping New Zealand¡¯s wine in sixth place in its export charts, according to the New Zealand government¡¯s Trade & Enterprise bureau the country¡¯s leading export commodities are (in order): dairy products, meat, wood, crude oil, machinery and then beverages followed by fruits and nuts.
