World's Most Admired Wine Brands is a comprehensive industry poll of the world's best-regarded wine.
This year, Drinks International collated votes from more than 200 wine professionals, including Masters of Wine, consultants, wine writers, retailers, educators, buyers and analysts.
The top ten most admired wines were as follows:
1 Torres up 1
2 Casillero del Diablo down 1
3 Chateau Latour re-entry
4 Tignanello up 28
5 Penfolds down 2
6 Chateau d'Yquem re-entry
7 Chateau Margaux up 13
8 Cloudy Bay down 3
9 Guigal down 1
10 Vega Sicilia re-entry
Supplement editor Holly Motion said: "This year Drinks International's World's Most Admired Wine Brands report has undergone a metamorphosis. The voting is more robust, the number of academy members has quadrupled, the survey has expanded and the results are telling. There are some surprise newcomers -and some even more surprising absentees.
"Much has changed and the top 20 looks considerably different. New names have joined the top 50 and, inevitably, some have dropped out."
"Last year's winner, Concha y Toro, has been knocked off the top spot by Torres, which garnered more than 15% of the total votes cast. Despite losing the top spot, Concha y Toro's global brand, Casillero del Diablo, secured the second top spot with its eco-friendly sister Chilean brand, Cono Sur, taking the 16th slot, two up on last year's poll."
