In 1988,Professor Zhang Junxiang was admitted to northwest agriculture and forestry university of Pomology department.After graduation,he came to work in Ningxia University.

At that time,the wine institute has not yet been established.But professor Li Hua were famous.Professor Zhang said,his wish at that time was to become his student. His wish was realized in 1995,when he became a postgraduate for wine institute.

Professor Li often said,"cultivating land as heart,making wine as behave yourself”.Zhang Junxiang said he benefit a lot from that and learned to do practical work and research.”On its 20th anniversary, I wish more talents come out from the institute ,greater success and happy birthday."

Wine education is root of industry

In recent years,Chinese wine industry has got rapid development and become world’s largest wine producers.In the long run,we must attach importance to wine education.Professor Zhang said,”Wine education is root of industry.As long as we cultivate enough wine professionals,our industry can get growth.”

Zhang Junxiang now is professor of Ningxia University on wine eduation.He is also chief expert for Ningxia grape industry and chief engineer of Guangxia (Yinchuan) Helan Mountain Wine Company.He said,"Chinese wine industry’s prominent change is globalization,which has brought great impact on wine education.So we need to cultivate talents with international vision!"

With region advantage,strengthen practical abilities

In recent years,Eastern foot of Helan Mountain has got rapid development.Professor Zhang thought it results from its accumulated strength.He said,”As early as1980s, Professor and other experts have already saw its potentials.”

Now professor Zhang with his team is devoting themselves on the research and generalization of standardized wine grape cultivation pattern.He noted that,"Grape cultivation pattern is an important part of wine culture.And standardized planting can reflet region  characteristics and styles,as well as improve grape’s quality." 
 

Wine education is different from other majors,Professor Zhang said,”It’s a very practical subject.During our wine education,we ask students to do internships in vineyards and wineries,and some wineries provides us with convenience.At this point,Ningxia University,which was established in this region, has a great advantage.”　　

He added,China’s wine education should pay more attention to this aspect. Now many graduates who work in the winery,don’t know how to cultivate grapes nor making wines,so many of them choose to sell imported wines.
