WINE CHINA:Hi,Yiftach! Have you find some interesting and impressed wines during tasting?
Yiftach Bar:I didn¡¯t find any particular one that left me particular memory.
However, in general, the overall tasting is of higher quality than the past.
WINE CHINA:What¡¯s your overall comments on Chinese wines? varietal/ style. etc
Yiftach Bar:First of all. This year¡¯s faulted wines are less than last year¡¯s;
Secondly, all in all speaking, the wines are in progress, meaning wines are getting more terroir and variety related.
Thirdly, Cabernet Gernischt Clone is still being a little greenish, Syrah & Marselan also in good adaptation to Chinese terroir. Rose was surprisingly fresh and balanced.
There were few bottles had faults, it happened mainly due to oxidization related and hygiene related reasons. Some of them were still balanced. General speaking, there were not so many faulted wines.
WINE CHINA:For Chinese wine¡¯s making, do you have some suggestions to further improve quality?
Yiftach Bar:My personal suggestion is to look into developing a stronger link of terroir to leave the idea of extraction in the wine making and invest in developing finesse.
WINE CHINA:How do you like Chinese Marselan wines?
Yiftach Bar:Marselan is showing fresh juice, and a fruity wine. To my opinion, it is a very good variety for china.
WINE CHINA:How do you like chinese white wines and rose wines? Do you think there¡¯s market?
Yiftach Bar:I think quality of rose is very nice! White wine still need some improvement in order to define its identity. And, regarding the market, I think the Chinese market is still widely concentrated on the red wines.
WINE CHINA:what about fruit wines you tasted?
Yiftach Bar:I didn¡¯t find them very experienced or attractive for the fruit wines.
WINE CHINA:You¡¯re much get involved in market. Compared with imported wines, how Chinese wines to communicated with consumers?
Yiftach Bar:I think global Chinese wine industry and producers should communicate more on the regional and appellation particularities. And wine makers should try to have their own styles of wine making to differentiate simple global trend.
