Premier English winemaker Chapel Down has announced that 10,000 bottles of wine will be heading to the US by the end of the year.
The Kent-based brand has teamed up with American luxury wine and spirit company ABCK Corp in a bid to introduce English wine to the market as well as raising its profile overall, according to ITV.
Chapel Down already exports to a host of overseas territories, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore, Copenhagen and Helsinki, but the brand are hoping for greater international exposure by adding the US to their international market reach.
The winery¡¯s CEO Frazer Thompson and Managing Director Mark Harvey will ravel to cities on both coasts in the US in October to introduce their wines to the market.
Former Prime Minister candidate Andrea Ledsom, who is now secretary of state for food and rural affairs, paid tribute to the brand by saying: ¡°Thanks to the innovation and hard work of our wine growers, the English wine industry is going from strength to strength with production more than doubling in the last five years.¡±
The launch will see Chapel Down working closely with ABCK Corp to raise their profile with a series of events and in-market support. This will include working with its British theatre partner, The Donmar Warehouse, to create a series of events that will work in conjunction with its shows on Broadway (via Harpers).
